(#10) Analysis
This book is an excellent introduction to simple chemical analysis, especially for students who have had no previous background in chemistry. Your students will quantitatively separate salt and sand mixtures by following simple flowchart procedures. They'll observe common household substances interacting, then use these characteristic reactions to qualitatively analyze unknown substances. They'll investigate acids and bases, both with traditional litmus paper and cabbage water. By titrating with an eye dropper, your students will compare the strengths of common kitchen substances, and match color changes to estimate pH.
(#10) ANALYSIS is part of our Self-Directing Task Card Series. It is a 48 page soft-bound book organized into three main parts:

(#10) ANALYSIS requires very basic lab equipment: 10 mL graduated cylinders, an electric or gas heat source, litmus paper and lab balances. (The TOPS balances from #05 Weighing are suitable). Gather these and other simple materials, photocopy the 16 task cards, and you're ready to explore TOPS Learning Systems hands-on.
