(#03) Graphing
In this unit, your students will measure variables, generate data tables and plot graphs. As they continue to experiment, they will begin to understand how the slope of a straight line or the direction of a curve corresponds to a more concrete reality - the stretch in a rubber band or the curve in a flask. Your students will study unusual coordinate systems, as well, that will amaze and delight them. They'll map normal images onto circular graph paper to create a distorted projection. Then they'll reflect the projection with a piece of shiny chrome tubing, and find the normal image restored.

(#03) GRAPHING requires basic lab equipment (test tubes, beakers, 10 mL graduated cylinders and Erlenmeyer flasks), plus chrome-plated tubing at least 1 inch in diameter. Gather these and other simple materials, photocopy the 20 task cards, and you're ready to explore TOPS Learning Systems hands-on.
